1. How did you find out about CVSC?
I set a goal last year to learn more about the language of weight lifting and to become more consistent with working out. When I heard about the ways that Ethan & Mirrium Gunn were being both supported AND pushed at CVSC, I knew it would provide just the structure I was looking for to reach my goals.
2. What is your favorite exercise or workout?
I love RDLs, back squats, dead lifts, kettlebell swings, push press, alternating dumbbell snatches, and…hot take…an AMRAP with wall balls.
3. How long have you been a member at CVSC?
I’ve been coming three times a week since June 2025, and this is the longest I've ever consistently trained at this intensity. I feel super proud of the discipline it took to build and maintain this habit!
Humans weren’t meant to do things alone, which is one of the reasons I also love the community at CVSC. There is something about the shared suffering of a hard workout that makes showing up just a little bit easier.
4. What do you do for a living?
I am a therapist in private practice in Hyde Park. I love my job, learning, and helping clients build a better relationship with themselves. So, it is not surprising that one of the most meaningful parts of my cross-fit journey has actually been the mental benefits. I’ve noticed increased stress management, attunement to my body, distress tolerance, and confidence in myself. The physical changes that have followed have been great too; I love noticing new muscle definition and the ways that my hobbies feel easier!
5. What are your hobbies?
In my free time I love hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, and paddleboarding at the lake with my dog, Ember. I also enjoy reading, traveling, finding the best cup of coffee, and spending time with the people I love.
6. What are your goals?
My goals are to change some of the generational health patterns in my family, have optimal lab work, and be the healthiest version of myself that I can be.
7. Why do you train?
I train because I want to be able to keep up with my nieces and nephews, bag a peak or paddle around the lake without injuries, and carry all my grocery bags up a flight of stairs in one trip! More than anything, I want to keep building the type of physical and mental strength that allows me to be with the people I love and continue doing the things that I love for a very long time.
8. Any advice for future members?
You are worthy of the investment in yourself. Show up on the days that life is good, the days that it feels heavy, and the days that you feel anxious about getting your to-do list done. Just get here, and your problems might feel a little lighter on the other side of a workout. Whatever you do, just keep choosing yourself and the consistency will pay off.
